About Us

Welcome to the City of Prinsburg!

Prinsburg (pronounced PRINZ-berg) is a small city in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, United States.  It is a quiet place where about 520 people lived as of the 2020 census.

Prinsburg was first planned out in 1886. A man named Martin Prins helped create the town.  He was a partner in a Dutch company that sold land.  Martin Prins and his business partner, Theodore Koch, started selling land in the area in 1885.   The town of Prinsburg soon grew from there.  The city officially became a village in June 1952.

Prinsburg is known for being a very traditional city in Minnesota.  It has a unique school situation.  The local public school district (Common School District 815) does not actually run a public school.  Instead, the only school in Prinsburg is a private religious school.  It is called Central Minnesota Christian School.
